ActiveLab is a bespoke 12-week programme of fast-track support to develop, connect and scale the best and brightest physical activity businesses. ActiveLab will promote, foster and accelerate cutting-edge innovation in health and physical activity from the UK and across the globe.

ActiveLab Live! returns, this time at the sectors largest event of the year.


2017 saw 12 innovators selected as the first-ever ActiveLab programme cohort. Over the course of the programme, the cohort received over 35 hours of workshop content, as well as access to bespoke mentoring, networking events and positioning at the intersect of physical activity and technology at ActiveLab Live. imoves, a digital tool to upskill teachers and get kids active in school were declared winners and given an acceleration prize worth over £25,000 of ongoing support.

What is ActiveLab?

ActiveLab is a twelve-week accelerator programme supporting start-ups that get more people, more active, more often.  

Who is behind ActiveLab?

ActiveLab is delivered by ukactive alongside a range of partners, mentors, experts and investors. Find out who we’re working with above.

How does ActiveLab work?

Across 12-weeks, ActiveLab will provide access to expertise through weekly workshops, events and bespoke mentoring opportunities. You’ll pitch-to and meet with influencers, potential investors and like-minded peers through our innovation network.


Who are you looking for?

We’re looking for great founders with a desire to improve society and contribute to the physical activity community. All products and services must have a digital application and fall within the stated categories.

How will you select the final cohort?

Applications are selected against their level of innovation, team credentials and potential to disrupt to the physical activity sector. Assessed by mentors, partners and ukactive.

What happens if I’m not selected?

All applicants will have access to ActiveLab’s innovation network. So regardless of whether your business is accepted onto the programme, you will still have access to exclusive events, influencers and like-minded peers.


What stage does my company need to be at?

You should have a tested and technically defensible product and a team with a track record. ActiveLab will consider businesses with working prototypes on the verge of launch if they can provide sufficient proof of concept and market potential.

Do I have to be based in London?

No, however we expect teams to attend all workshop sessions through either physical or virtual presence. All 1-1 sessions can be arranged at the discretion of your mentor, whether that’s in person, by email, through Skype or on the phone.

Do I need to send across a business plan?

No, we just ask that you complete our online application form.
